The Benefits of Omega 3 Capsules: Why we need daily supplements of these essential fatty acids.

September 10th, 2009

The nutritional power and health benefits of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids are well known and touted the world over…and with good reason.  Study after study show that Omega 3 and Omega 6 oil supplements (also known as ALA, EPA, DHA and GLA) help keep cholesterol at healthy levels, lower triglycerides, help boost the good cholesterol (HDL – heart healthy), maintain blood pressure levels, and may even reduce the risk of premature heart disease and stroke.  Clinical studies have further shown that  Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can also reduce symptoms of depression, joint pain, arthritis, and dry skin just to name a few.  Unfortunately the typical American diet is seriously deficient when it comes to adequate intake of essential fatty acids.

Americans are eating less foods that are rich in these nutrients, particularly fish (like salmon, halibut, herring and mackerel) and certain vegetables and whole grains (flax seeds, walnuts, cabbage).  Our busy schedules make it difficult to plan well rounded meals that cover all the bases so we miss out on regular servings of critical nutrients.   Daily supplements, such as Omega 3 Capsules, can help bridge the gap.  A high quality, high potency supplement can help form the foundation of a well rounded, nutritionally sound diet.

Kosher Fish Oil

December 3rd, 2009

The essential fish oils are the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.  They are considered “essential” because they are necessary for human health, but cannot be created by the human body.  So, they must be present in the human diet.  The components of most fish oil or omega 3 supplements, as well as the preparation of the concentrated ingredients pose a challenge to those who keep Kosher. High Potency Fish Oil Pills

October 24th, 2009

Just some of the recognized benefits of a regular fish oil dietary supplement.

Reduced risk of heart disease:  The American Heart Association cites clinical trials showing that the high concentration of omega 3 in fish oil pills is effective in reducing the incidence of cardiovascular disease. It lowers the levels of LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol, and increases the HDL or ‘good’ cholesterol, may reduce  and helps to maintain blood triglycerides at normal healthy levels.

Reducing inflammation: Fish oil is widely considered to have anti-inflammatory properties.  Therefore, supplements may be helpful to those suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis.  Arthritis is another malady characterized by excess inflammation in the body. More and more arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis sufferers are being advised by their doctors to take fish oil pills.

Weight Loss:  Increasing your intake of healthy fats may help in losing weight because foods rich in omega 3s will help you feel satisfied. You won’t crave fattening carbohydrates, sugars and other foods laden with unhealthy or trans fats. Combined with an appropriate exercise routine, increased fish oil consumption may help maintain normal healthy weight.

Reducing symptoms of depression:  Recent studies have shown that the absence of omega 3 essential fatty acids correlated with higher incidences of depression across a diverse sample of study participants. Those with low omega 3 intake were also more prone to stress, mental fatigue, and decreased cognitive ability.  DHA and EPA supplements are even commonly recommended for people suffering from, or at risk for, Alzheimer’s Disease.   A recent story featured on webmd explained how diet may influence Alzheimer’s risk.
